Welcome to the Figueroa's immigration ordeal!!!

Canada has been known for many years for its tradition to offer protection to people who have been forced to seek protection against persecution and danger in their homeland! The Figueroa Family is being affected by the immigration laws that have been adopted, by Section 34.1 of the I.R.P.A. to be specific.

This blog has been created with the objective to become a link among the community who still believe in Canada's Tradition and search for alternatives that would allow to make a difference for the defense of individual rights!

We thank you before hand for your opinion and suggestions so that a solution is found!

In behalf of the Figueroa Family and many others whose rights are being affected ... Thanks for your Support!

We are Jose!

TEACH-IN at UBC !!!

On October 14th we held a teach-in event at the Univeristy of British Columbia. This event took place at the LIU Institute for Global Issues, a group of about 50 students had the chance to hear first hand information relating to the deportation order issued on May 5th 2010. After the exposition made by Peter Edelmann (lawyer representing Jose Figueroa), Prof. Jerry Spiegel and Prof. Max Cameron from UBC, and Jose Figueroa himself, the students had the opportunity to ask questions and then give their opinions on what could be done to better face the manifested injustice that this case presents...

One of the key issues that the body of students presented was concerning accountability for the decision maker who obviously have disregarded the rights of Canadian born children and had not considered the objective historical context of Salvadoran reality before having an opinion to refer the case for an admissibility hearing. This opinion was based on the fact that CBSA officers lack a specialized knowledge of Salvadoran Social and Political Changes that came as a result of the peace agreements that were signed in Chapultepec Mexico in 1992.

The concerns of the students have lead them to provide the Ad-hoc committee against deportation with some practical activities that need to be done in order to raise awareness of the issue... the following is a web (whole-lotta-law-not-a-lotta-justice)blog that was created by one of the participants. We are encouraging you to take part on the defense for the rights of the Figueroa Family. and also want to thank the UBC Students for their active participation and for the success of this event.

  2. Hola Jose, This has great info. I think I liked the formatting better before the most recent switch. The icons on the right seem smaller. I liked them larger because they are so key. It seems your profile is up on the left now. it seemed when that was below on the right side there was more wrong for those icons. Just a thought. Also the color before was easier to read i think...but just my two cents...It is fantastic all around...
