The School of America
Roberto D'aubuisson, who ordered Archbishop Oscar Romero killed, was trained at the School of the Americas. This was one of the many ways the Reagan Administration was intervening in the Civil War in El Salvador. During the 12 year period of the Civil War the United States spent an average of 1.5 million dollars a day in order to carry out the counter-insurgency project.
The Report of the Commission of Truth on El Salvador provides evidence of the knowledge of the US Government on the presence of the Death Squads within military and civilian personnel of the Salvadoran Government during the period of the Conflict. For instance, after the assassination of 4 North American Nuns at the beginning of the 80's. The Carter Administration put some restrictions to the military aid that was being provided because of ... as Archbishop Romero said: "...they're being used to kill our people!". Even with the knowledge that there were Death Squads in the structures of the Salvadoran Army, the Aid and training of troops continued after Carter was replaced by Ronald Reagan.
All of this indicates that there was a level of complicity by the different US Administrations in the harboring and support of Death Squads in El Salvador. It must sicken anybody with moral principles to know that this had been happening and moreover, that they would openly admit that that was the right thing to do for the sake of "National Security Interests".
Despite US direct intervention, Salvadorans overcame the period of the Civil War with the signing of the Peace Agreement of Chapultepec Mexico. El Salvador entered into a period to try and consolidate the PEACE that at last been reached, as a matter of fact, the Salvadoran Peace Agreement has been considered by the United Nations as the most successful agreement that has been kept till now... Salvadorans where ever they are around the world are still struggling to consolidate that peace agreement. No Salvadoran wish history to repeat itself.
There is so much to be said about what we have learned from this process in El Salvador...
An effort is being done to break with the Language barrier so that we all have a background to some elements that are necessary to understand about the Allegations that have been presented by the Minister of Public Safety of Canada in order to deport people who were members of FMLN... so if you know other languages we urge you to use that knowledge to translate information about the Salvadoran Reality...

Esta fuéuna de las muchas formas que la Administración Reagan estaba interviniendo en la guerra civil en El Salvador. El Informe de la Comisión de la Verdad en El Salvador provee evidencia del conocimiento del gobierno de EE.UU. sobre la presencia de los escuadrones de la muerte entre personal militar y civil del Gobierno de El Salvador durante el período del conflicto. Todo esto indica que hay un nivel de complicidad por parte de las diferentes administraciones de EE.UU. en la acogida y el apoyo de escuadrones de la muerte en El Salvador. Deberia enfermar a cualquiera con principios morales saber que esto había estado sucediendo y, además, que abiertamente admitieran que eso era lo correcto en base a los "intereses de seguridad nacional".
A pesar de la intervención directa de EE.UU., los salvadoreños superamos el período de la Guerra Civil con la firma del Acuerdo de Paz de Chapultepec, México. El Salvador entró en un período para tratar de consolidar la paz que por fin habia llegado, De hecho hecho, el Acuerdo de Paz de El Salvador ha sido considerado por las Naciones Unidas como el acuerdo más exitoso que se ha mantenido hasta la fecha ...
Salvadoreños donde quiera que estén todo el mundo están luchando para consolidar ese acuerdo de paz. Nadie desea que la historia salvadoreña se repita.
Hay tanto que decir acerca de lo que hemos aprendido de este proceso en El Salvador ...
Un esfuerzo que se está haciendo para romper con la barrera del idioma a fin de que todos tengamos elementos de juicio necesarios para comprender acerca de las acusaciones que se han presentado por el Ministro de Seguridad Pública de Canadá con el fin de expulsar a personas que eran miembros de FMLN ... así que, si usted sabe otros idiomas le instamos a usar ese conocimiento para traducir información sobre la realidad salvadoreña ...
