Welcome to the Figueroa's immigration ordeal!!!

Canada has been known for many years for its tradition to offer protection to people who have been forced to seek protection against persecution and danger in their homeland! The Figueroa Family is being affected by the immigration laws that have been adopted, by Section 34.1 of the I.R.P.A. to be specific.

This blog has been created with the objective to become a link among the community who still believe in Canada's Tradition and search for alternatives that would allow to make a difference for the defense of individual rights!

We thank you before hand for your opinion and suggestions so that a solution is found!

In behalf of the Figueroa Family and many others whose rights are being affected ... Thanks for your Support!

We are Jose!

Canadians should no be forced to leave!!

National Day of Action "We are Jose"

This a report on the "We are Jose" Campaign.

The "We are Jose" Campaign is an effort to look for support from the community to revert the deportation order given against Jose Figueroa
by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada on May 5th 2010.

It was created by a group of Canadian students from the University of British Columbia in solidarity with the Figueroa Family.

The results from the campaign so far are very positive and this are some of the most important developments that have been obtained:

In response to the "We Are Jose" we got the manifested support from the following Salvadoran Authorities and members of the FMLN: (a) Sigfrido Reyes; Vice-president of the National Assembly of El Salvador who also will be the president of the National Assembly of El Salvador next February; (b) Fredy Tejada; member of the Central American Parliament  (PARLACEN); Jorge Shafick Handal, also a member of FMLN.  We hope that more members of the Salvadoran Government structures will joint this effort to protect the rights of Jose Figueroa and his family.
We have being able to make a connection with community  and also been able to share the story.    This will allowed to a better understanding of the facts surrounding the deportation case and its effects not only on the Family but also on the Salvadoran Community.
We have got many suggestions on what could be done in order to really create awareness of the situation. We thank very much to all of those who have given and continue giving their suggestions...
There were several events in Ottawa, Toronto and Langley organized by the "We Are Jose" Team, yet we also received notes of support from many places across Canada.
We thought this was going to be a National Day of Action; but it turned out to be an International Day of Action, there were activities of support to the "We are Jose" Campaign in El Salvador, where people are joining to ask the Canadian Government to respect the Dignity and self-determination of the Salvadorans. We also have received notes from Australia, Germany, Honduras, Guatemala, USA, asking how they could do to support.  We thank them very much.

This Campaign will not be over until the Minister of Public Safety of Canada or the Minister of Immigration of Canada do what is right to do. That is to give the appropriate remedy to this situation based on aspects of justice...

We thank all Canadians who are standing up for Justice along with the Figueroa Family and the Salvadoran Community!
